James William Lawrence Sr

James William Lawrence Sr, 70, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021. He was the former commander of the American Legion Post 193 and the Sons of American Legion. James was a retired public works superintendent for the City of Louisville and retired from Microbac Laboratories. He was a member of the VFW and BarFly Athletic Club. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.

James was preceded in death by his parents, August and Nellie Lawrence; and children, April and James Jr.

Left to cherish James’ memory is his loving wife, Sharon Lawrence; children, Jamice Capito (Dale), Kenneth Lawrence, Michael Finerty (Norma), David Matherly; 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and siblings, Nellie “Sissy” Dewitt, Phronie Lawrence, Karen Manning (John), Franklin Lawrence (Delee), Jesse Lawrence; and numberous nieces and nephews and loving friends.

The Funeral Service will be Friday, October 29, 2021 at 12:00 pm at Evergreen Funeral Home with visitation from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Burial is private at Resthaven Cemetery.
