James Arthur Mayfield, 91, of Louisville, passed away peacefully March 14, 2016 with family by his side. He was born on December 23, 1924 in Granite City, Illinois to the late Clarence and Irene Penn Mayfield. Jim was a part of the 456th Bomb Group in WWII and an Armed Air Force veteran. He owned and operated Clarence Mayfield Produce Company and spent time golfing at South Park Country Club. He was a member of the Iroquois Presbyterian Church and later moved his membership to Harvey Browne Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Betty Jean Mayfield.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Trisch Mayfield Davis; two sons, James David Mayfield (Barbara) and John A. Mayfield (Joy); grandchildren, Jennifer Mayfield-Quazi (Inam), Jaimie Davis, Kathleen Mayfield, Ross Mayfield and Tom Mayfield.
A service to celebrate his life will be conducted Friday, March 18, 2016 at 2pm at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road with private entombment in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-8 on Thursday at the funeral home.
