Born on February 15, 1943, in Louisville, KY, Jane grew a life rich in devotion to her family and service to her community, leaving behind a legacy of kindness that will be cherished by those who knew her.
The gates of heaven opened for Jane following her 81 years of a life well-lived. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, James and Donnie Owen, as well as her brother, James Michael Owen.
The love story she shared with her husband, Bennie Thomas Lucas, will continue to inspire their family for generations to come. Together, they nurtured a family that includes their children, Kevin Thomas Lucas (Kathy) and Robin Zable (Ron); and their dear grandchildren, Kristen Shane Lucas, Kara Elizabeth Lucas, Kevin Thomas Lucas Jr., Maria Rosser (Daniel), Andrew Thomas Haven (Katrina), and Brandy Maffey (Allen). Her memory will live on in her great-grandchildren, Martha, Rosabelle, and Kennedy, as a reminder of her tender presence.
A proud graduate of Henry County High School in New Castle, Kentucky, Jane furthered her education with secretarial training at Spencerian College, which led to a rewarding career in customer service at Sears. Her devotion to her family was most important, as she embraced the role of full-time grandmother with the birth of her youngest granddaughter.
Jane's passion for life extended beyond family as she shared her talents and time generously. An avid sewer, scrapbooker, and crafter, she spread joy through her creations. She found fellowship and fun with the Red Hat Society and her fellow Square Dancers with Rusty Hinges. As a committed woman of faith, Jane held various leadership roles including women's leader, GA leader, and was a fervent participant on several mission trips.
Her spirit of guidance shone bright as she led Bible study at Hillcrest where she resided and was an active member of multiple churches: Jeffersontown Baptist Church, Davis Memorial, First Southern Baptist of Clarksville, Indiana, and One Community Church of Clarksville. Jane's dedication to her faith and her community built bridges of fellowship that helped light the path for many.
Those who had the joy of knowing Jane understand that her life was a testament to love in action. Her memory will remain a guiding light that continues to inspire us all to live with generosity, dedication, and boundless love.
