

Janetta Young-Simmons, 70, of Louisville, passed away October 19, 2025. She was a devoted mother of four who touched the lives of so many with unconditional love. Janetta graduated Shawnee High School class of 1972. She instilled a work ethic to her family while working at Presbyterian Homes USA where she retired in 2017. Janetta studied scriptures of the bible daily and gave her life to Christ as a young adult, she was a member of Christ Refuge Apostolic Church. She had a love for home interior design, and culinary. Family time with music, song and dance later in life became her therapy. Cherished memories of joy, peace, love and laughter from Janetta will forever be held in our hearts.
Janetta was preceded in death by her parents, James and Henrietta Thomas Sr.; brothers, James Thomas Jr., Frank Thomas, and Cornelius Thomas; and sister, Roberta Walker. She is survived by her children, Melvin Young Jr., Carmelita Young, Crystal Young, and Mario Young; grandchildren, Christopher Buckner, Janiah Noel, Anivea Noel, and Carlito Moss; sisters, Fannie Lee-Breckenridge and Eleanor Thomas; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 1:30pm Monday, October 27, 2025 at Evergreen Funeral Home with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:30am-1:30pm Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations in Janetta's memory can be made to American Heart Association.
