

J.L. “As most people called him”, was a big man, with a big presence, who always had a way of making everyone feel special, especially his family and many friends.
Born on October 17th 1944, J.L. learned from an early age the value of hard work and family, working with his father at the stockyards in Fleming county, and owning two successful businesses in Lexington, as well as his hunting lodge, Roger’s Retreat, in Carthage, South Dakota. J.L. was also an active member of The Masonic Lodge, The Oleika Shrine Temple, and The Royal Order of Jesters, all of which he was very proud of. His life was an example of generosity and love for his family and friends.
J.L. is preceded in death by his devoted wife of over 30 years, Valerie Francis Eldridge; his parents John L. and Lula E. Eldridge; and his sister Patty.
He is survived by his beloved children: John Eldridge (Noelle),Kenneth Eldridge (Leisa),Tim Bentley (Wan), Belinda Bentley,Penny Bentley,and Scott Bentley (Sabrina). His legacy will continue to live on through his grandchildren: John,Erin,Hailey,Emeli,Austin (Savannah),Savannah, Anderson (Hanna), and Jackson; and his precious great grandchildren: Jessalyn, Anakin, and Cora. J.L. is also survived by three sisters: Ellen Gulley, Peggy Plank, and Sally Fair.
J.L. will be dearly missed.
A celebration of life will be hosted for J.L. this spring at a time and location to be announced.
