" From a Friend" I was so sad to learn of the passing of our friend, John. Our story began in 2013 when I met him at a day shelter. A book could be written about our friendship. There was an invisible thread that tied us together. John was a talented artist, father, grandfather and has a loving mom who would call me regularly to check in to see if I had been in contact with her son. John had so many layers to him. I describe him as an onion. Over the past number of years I had peeled back many layers and under all those layers was a kind soul. John had spent much of his adult life struggling with mental health, addiction, homelessness and having anger issues which resulted in being violent at times. I always extended grace and met him where he was at. I will admit it was difficult at times but God wants us to share his love and mercy. Sadly, John could never find peace but I know now he has found the peace he had been searching for for so long. You will always have a special place in my heart. RIP my friend.💕
