A graduate of Southern Highschool and veteran of the US Army, Jack worked from apprentice to supervisor at Navel Ordinance over 33 years before retiring from the Federal government.
Jack is survived by his children, Melissa Long Shuter (Paul Shuter) and Jack Long (Betty Wagner); and his siblings Charlie Long (Jerry), Micki Farley (Frank), Sallie Winokur (Mark), and Marti Allen (Tim).
Papa Jack was adored and will be forever loved by his two grandchildren (Marlo and Zane Shuter).
Jack was an avid sportsman enjoying golf, tennis, hunting, and fishing and enjoyed 28 years of retirement playing golf and betting the horses with friends at Woodhaven Country Club.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Charles ‘Ray’ and Martha Jane Long, brother Tim Long, and wife June Long.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Woodhaven Country Club. In lieu of flowers donations may be directed to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
