Joe retired from Southern States Cooperative, he was an avid U of L fan, and a big NFL fan. He loved hosting family gatherings, spending time at the lake, and his many vacations at the beach. He was always willing to lend a hand. Joe was very loyal and loved all his family and friends dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Caroline and Joseph Carta Sr., a nephew, Josh Carta, in-laws, Eugene and Flora Forcht, and a sister-in-law, Carlotta Soileau.
Joe is survived by his wife of 52 years, Phyllis Carta, a sister, Patty McAllister (Don), brothers, Alan Carta (Patty), Jerry Carta (Pam), Darryl Carta (Kelly) and Paul Carta (Mendy). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and his loyal friend, Oliver the Boston Terrier.
Visitation will be held from 2pm - 8pm on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd., Louisville, KY 40218. A funeral service will be conducted at 10am on Friday, March 13, 2026, in the funeral home chapel with entombment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
