Kenneth Larry Young

Larry married Peggy (Young) Young in 1966 and together they had two children, Brian Young and Angie (Young) Church (spouse Doug Church). He was also blessed with a grandson, Dustin Read, and a step grandson, Preston Church.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Martha, along with his brothers Danny, Jerry, Rodney, and Scott. He is survived by brothers Wayne and Rick.

Larry attended Male High School in Louisville, Kentucky, graduating in 1963. He furthered his education at the University of Louisville, graduating in 1967 with a BS in Finance.

He served his country as a Captain in the Air Force with a military career in Avionics. He achieved a successful career at Cincom Systems in Cincinnati, Ohio as a software consultant. After many wonderful years in Cincinnati, Larry retired in 2005 after many years of dedicated service.

In his retirement, Larry enjoyed being a greeter at Academy Sports and Outdoors. He enjoyed interacting with customers and making their shopping experience memorable. He was a member at Spring Baptist Church. He was also an active member of his Sunday school class. One of his favorite things to do was watch Dustin play baseball and hockey.

Larry spent his final years living in Spring, Texas with Peggy, and enjoying time with his family. After several years battling Alzheimer's, Larry is now at peace. He will be deeply missed by his family.

A service will be held in Larry's honor at 1 PM Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Arch L Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40218. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12-1 PM at the funeral home.
