LeRoy Charles "Pop" Meyer

LeRoy Charles “Pop” Meyer, 83, died Friday, December 16, 2016. He was born January 31, 1933 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Christopher and Irene Faust Meyer. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Meyer; sisters, Dorothy Braunecker, Laverne Meyer, and Rita Dorsey; and several nieces and nephews. He graduated from St. X in 1950, served in the US Army, and worked at Eastern and Northwest Airlines as well as American Air Filter before retiring. He was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where he was active in the Men’s Club. He also volunteered at Norton Children’s Hospital and coached basketball at Presentation Academy and Floyd Central High School.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia Buren Meyer; 3 children, Christie Atkinson (Brian), David Meyer (Jenni), and Karen Voelker (Joe); 9 grandchildren, Miranda, Olivia, and Lauren Atkinson, Katie, Kristen, and Emma Meyer, and Alex, Justin, and Erica Voelker; 2 sisters, Ruth McClish and Norma Walsh; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday at Arch L. Heady and Son Southern Funeral Home, 3601 Taylor Blvd. His Funeral Liturgy will be 10:00 am Tuesday at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 3509 Taylor Blvd. with burial to follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Louisville.
