

Louis Gene McDonald, 85, passed away Friday, April 4, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. He was employed for more than 48 years by the Courier-Journal, beginning with a paper route and ending as head of composing. Louis was the former owner of Manslick Laundromat. He was an avid golfer and volunteered with the First Tee program. Louis was never without a smile or a joke and loved spending time with his family and friends.
Louis is preceded in death by his parents; Charles Claude and Thelma Anna (Gliessner) McDonald, and his brother; Charles McDonald.
Louis is survived by his wife of 61 years; Darlene (Orwick) McDonald, son; Jeffrey McDonald, daughter; Jennifer Embry (Kevin), granddaughters; Shelby Starr (Daniel) and Rebekah Berg, great-grandchildren; Reed Starr and Remi Starr, sisters; Mary Ann Neff and Kathy Norrenbrock (Jerry), brothers; Tim McDonald (Betty) and Terry McDonald (Ann), sister-in-law; Alice McDonald, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Hosparus Health for their kind, compassionate care.
The family has chosen cremation. A memorial visitation for Louis will be held Saturday, April 19, 2025, from 12:00pm-2:00pm at Evergreen Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow visitation directly at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude.
