Louis Earl Miles

Louis Earl Miles, 89, entered into rest on Friday, October 20th, 2017. Louie was born May 29, 1928 in Shively to the late Fay Hamilton Miles and Mary Elizabeth Nally. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force, retired from Kentucky Machinery and was a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church. Louie was an avid fellow of the Knights of Columbus Pope St. John XXIII 5634 Council. He became a Kentucky Colonel in 1999. Louie had a kind heart, gentle soul, and those who were fortunate enough to know him knew he was one of a kind. Along with his parents, Louie is preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Lee Fitzgerald Miles, daughter; Betty Jean (Miles) Heck, two brothers; William Fay Miles and James Edward Miles, and a sister Mary Catherine Hovekamp. Here to carry on his memory are his granddaughters, Lesley Dennis (Donald) and Sarah Heck; nieces and nephews: Donna Bischoff (Phil), Linda Arnold (Mike), Jacqueline Miles, Anita Cupier (Bryant), Dave Miles (Linda), Cathy Hovekamp Sager (Deane), Joseph Hovekamp (Cheri), Pat Tobbe (Bud), Sandy Bischoff (Lee), Jim Miles (Pam); great grandsons: Henry & Samuel Dennis; and many friends along the way. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, October 26th, 2017 10am at St. Rita Catholic Church, 8709 Preston Hwy. Burial will follow at the Main Post Cemetery in Fort Knox.
