Madgelene Hart

Mary Madgelene Hart, age 94, of Louisville, KY, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024. She was born March 11, 1930 in Big Clifty, KY. She was the daughter of the late Arnold and Stella Hart. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Carl Hart, her brother Louie Hart, twin brother Harold Hart, brother Ed Hart, sister Kathryn Richardson, and great-grandson Noah Hart. She has one surviving brother, Gerald Hart (Nelda).

She is survived by her children Kathy J. Hart and W. Bruce Hart (Kim). She had three grandchildren Zachary Hart (Michelle), Kaitlin Brown (Chad) and Morgan Kitchen (Cody). She also had eleven great-grandchildren, Grayson Hart, Blakely Paige Hart, Elliott Hart, Dailyn Wehmeyer, Henry Wehmeyer, Jack Wehmeyer, Charlotte Brown, Riley Brown, Benny Kitchen, and Stella Kitchen.

Madge retired as a manager in the food service for Jefferson County Public School system. She was a member of the Kenwood Church of Christ where she enjoyed participating in Ladies' Bible Studies and her fellowship with all the Kenwood family.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, ceramics, cross stitching, and smocking baby dresses for her granddaughters, which were worn years later by her great-granddaughters. She enjoyed buying and receiving collectables of hummingbirds and lighthouses. She liked to enter baked goods into the Kentucky State Fair.

She enjoyed helping family and friends in any way that she could. She would sit at the hospital with those who needed company and assisting others with cooking and cleaning. However, her greatest joy in life was taking care of and spending time with her grandchildren and later great-grandchildren. Madge lived her life as a great example of being a Christian woman who always strived to live in a way pleasing to God.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday at Arch L Heady & Son Funeral Home, 3601 Taylor Blvd, followed by burial at the New Hope Church of Christ Cemetery in Grayson County. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm Tuesday.
