Mary Edward Hampton, 92, of Louisville, passed away June 16, 2023. She was born in Louisville on March 29, 1931 to Dr. George P. Beutel and Mydaline Gottschalk Beutel. Growing up locally, she graduated from J.M. Atherton High School in 1948. She attended the University of Louisville, where she met her husband, Donald R. Hampton Sr. They would be married until his passing in 1991.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lakeside Swim Club, and a member of Zion United Church of Christ for over 50 years. While in college, she was initiated into the Beta Lambda chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She enjoyed traveling, and visited every inhabited continent over the years.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda S. Hampton and Cynthia Hampton; son, Donald Hampton Jr.(Linda); two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral service will be 2pm Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Evergreen Funeral Home with entombment in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 12pm-2pm Thursday at the funeral home.
