Mary Beth was the daughter of the late Arthur P. Koch Jr. and Dorotha (Wall) Koch. She was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. She is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, James R. "Ron" Quick; her sister Patricia (Koch) Wagner (Norman L.Wagner, deceased), her brother Arthur P. Koch III (Linda Koch, deceased), her son Stephen Michael Quick (Juliet),her two grandchildren Abigail (9) and Auggie (5), and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Upon graduation from Spalding University in 1969, she spent her entire career working in Catholic parochial schools, first as a teacher, and later as a principal for over 20 years. She thoroughly enjoyed working with young children. Her first teaching assignment upon graduation was teaching the 7th and 8th grade students at St. Stephen Martyr Grade School in Louisville. That was a real test of her passion for teaching. A brand new teacher going into a room of hormone-crazy kids! But she met the challenge with love and mutual respect and the class became one of her favorite assignments. As her husband's profession required several relocations, Mary Beth found new teaching jobs in parochial schools in Cincinnati, OH, West Palm Beach, FL, and Jupiter, FL.
The highlight of her years as a principal in Florida was being chosen to assume the principal's job of opening a yet to be built, large parochial school in Jupiter, FL. She was in charge of overseeing the construction, furnishing, as well as future staffing of the new school. It was an exciting challenge to be a part of such an endeavor.
Her brightest moments as a principal were when the kindergarten students or first graders showed up in her office just to give her a hug. She often read to students in the their homeroom reading classes.
Her hobbies included painting and flower arranging. She often made Christmas wreaths for family and friends.
Once she retired in 1997 she enjoyed foreign traveling with her husband.
The family of Mary Beth would like to thank the Hosparus Health group for their care and compassion in her final days.
