

Michael Terry Wise, 77, passed away on March 24, 2026. Born January 24, 1949, Michael was a beloved, brave, devoted, and hard-working man whose life was defined by steadfast love for his family and faithful service to others. After this introduction, he will be remembered simply as Michael.
Michael married “his honey,” Wanda, and together they created a beautiful family. He earned his master’s degree, reflecting the determination and discipline that guided him throughout his life. Michael served in the Army and fought in the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Medal of Valor. Following his military service, he continued to lead with dedication and strength in his work, including a career with Nokia in management. Michael and Wanda were married for 48 years. He was a devoted father, husband, and grandfather who loved his children and grandchildren deeply. Michael was active in causes close to his heart, including DAV honoring and support of the Boys and Girls Club. He found joy in fishing, yard work, and working in general—so much so that his honey Wanda liked to call him a work-a-holic. He also enjoyed reading and built a lifetime of learning through a whole basement full of books he had read over the years.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, James Wise and Althea Wooldridge Wise; his son, Rich; his siblings, Jay, Helen Calhoun (Jerry), Linda Peters (Kenny), Barbara Lopez (Rey), Judy Clark (Don), Fred Wise, and Dan Wise; and his best friend and dear four legged companion, Suzi the Toy maltese.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 48 years, Wanda Wise; his children, Brittany, Jennette, and Gary; his grandchildren, David, Jessica, Courtney, Lance, and Devyn; and his great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Isla, Emmerson and Jayden; special friends, Scott Gerber, Bob Baumer, Aaron and Brandy.
Visitation will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4623 Preston Highway, Louisville, KY 40213, US, on March 28, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
