Noel Lewis Rogers, Sr., was born on October 7, 1947 in Munfordville, Kentucky, to the late Albert Lewis Rogers and Bertha Mae Bradley Rogers. He departed this life on January 8, 2026, which was also his late wife's birthday. He succumbed at his home surrounded by his devoted sons. Noel found great joy and pride in watching his sons grow, play sports, and become outstanding men.
Noel graduated from Munfordville High School in 1965. He was always a good student and was well liked by his teachers and peers. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army serving as an MP.
He began working at General Electric immediately after his service in the Army. That is where he met the love of his life, Wilhelmina Marshall. He retired from General Electric after 39 years of service.
He was an avid UofL fan. His favorite past times included fishing, bowling, listening to old Motown sounds, playing cards, barbequing, and growing tomatoes.
The Kentucky Derby was his favorite time of the year. He knew how to host a derby party gathering. He was a master chef when it came to barbecuing ribs. His ribs were all that and more.
He also provided love and comfort to many throughout the distribution of his delicious home grown tomatoes. No one could grow tomatoes like him. He would load up his truck and take his tomatoes to Munfordville and give them to relatives and friends. Before his health started to deteriorate, he would often go to Munfordville and clean off graves at the cemetery of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. He never forgot where he came from. He was a blessing to all who knew and loved him. Though he will be dearly missed, the gifts his beautiful soul leaves with us are timeless and more valuable than gold.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilhelmina Marshall Rogers; his parents Albert L. Rogers and Bertha Bradley Rogers; his son Troy Rogers; his brothers, Jonathan Rogers and Gilbert Franklin.
He leaves to cherish his memory his four sons: Noel "Tick" Rogers, Jr. (Laila), Dewayne Rogers (Melissa), Webster Rogers, and Dr. Gilbert Rogers (Nikki); stepdaughters Darinia Shanklin (George), Gladys Dukes (Arthur), and Laura Smith (Sean); grandchildren Kyrvin, Trent, Jalen, Arianna, Trey, Malia, MaKenzie, Melise, and Cayman; 9 stepchildren; siblings Libby West, Rosalind McGhee, Annette Lavender, Ricky Rogers, and Vickie Hughes.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the loving care given by Virginia Bradshaw and Hospice.
The family gratefully acknowledges all expressions of sympathy and acts of kindness extended during this time of bereavement.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky, 40218, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM, with a funeral in Noel's honor beginning at 12;00 PM at the funeral home. Noel will be entombed in Resthaven Memorial Park with his beloved wife.
