He was a retired Electrical and Professional Engineer and Control Systems Specialist for General Electric. Paul was the holder of numerous patents and had served in the Merchant Marines and US Coast Guard. He received the Merchant Marine Combat Bar and the Pacific War Zone Bar.
His memberships include Christ Church United Methodist.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, Lois Durst; two children, Diane Durst and Mark Durst (Kay); four grandchildren, Michael, Jonathan, Kristyn and Daniel Durst.
A memorial service to honor the life of Paul will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 5, 2012 in the chapel of Christ Church United Methodist, 4614 Brownsboro Road. Visitation will be held from 1-2pm Thursday in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of customary expressions of sympathy the family has requested contributions to Christ Church United Methodist. Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home at Westport Village has been entrusted with the arrangements.
