Paul J. Flynn Sr.

Paul J. Flynn Sr. Age 85, of Louisville, KY, passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. He was a graduate of St. Xavier High School and served as a mechanic in the United States Air Force. He retired from IBM after more than 25 years as a field engineer.

But what was most important in Paul’s life was his family. He grew up in a large Catholic family where playing games and enjoying activities together was a central part of their lives. Paul continued this tradition after marrying his high school sweetheart, Betty, and having five children. The love and laughter they enjoyed playing cards, board games, and dominoes continued to grow as the family grew. Paul was always ready to play. After losing his beloved wife, he found solace in the independent living community where he made new friends and was always ready for any activity. He played Wii Sports, card games, worked on puzzles, and even learned to paint. Everyone there knew Paul, and he was appreciated for his willingness to make people feel welcome and get them involved. He will be missed by so many.

Paul is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Flynn, his parents, and six siblings.

He is survived by his children: Theresa Flynn, Evelyn Schafer (Dale), Diane Miles, Paul J. Flynn Jr. (Christy), and Paula Levinson (Sheldon). He is also survived by his sister, Germaine Boehlein (Bob); grandchildren: Angela, Matthew, Kaitlyn, Samuel, Samantha, Jacob, Christopher, Zachary, Briana, Elizabeth, William and Joseph; great grandchildren: Cameron, Roge, Carter, Lily, Camaira, Evie and J.D.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, March 3, 2025, 10:00 AM at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, 5505 Bardstown Rd. Louisville, Kentucky 40291.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd. Louisville, KY 40218.

Paul’s ashes will be interred at Resthaven Memorial Park on March 29 at noon with military honors.
