

Peggy Weissinger Swain, a cherished mother, grandmother, and community leader, passed away on September 5, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on June 25, 1938, in Danville, Kentucky, Peggy lived a life filled with love, adventure, and a deep commitment to her community.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, William P. Swain, and her dear sister, Julie Benedict. Peggy is survived by her two sons, Charles E. Swain and William Smith Swain. She also leaves behind her treasured granddaughter, Katherine Elisabeth Swain, who brought her immense joy and pride. Additionally, Peggy is survived by her brother-in-law, Enos Stevens Swain, and sister-in-law, Kitty Swain Beard, who were important parts of her life.
Peggy had a passion for travel that took her to many corners of the world, including a remarkable journey to Antarctica, a testament to her adventurous spirit. Her love for exploration was matched by her dedication to her community. She served as the Mayor of Crossgate for several years, where her leadership and vision made a lasting impact. Peggy also enjoyed a fulfilling career with the Jefferson County Planning Commission, where she worked tirelessly to improve the lives of those around her.
Visitation for Peggy will be held on Thursday September 11, 2025 from 3pm-7pm at Arch L Heady & Son Westport Village 7410 Westport Rd. Louisville, KY 40222. Mass will be held on Friday September 12, 2025 10am at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church 1395 Girard Dr. Louisville, KY 40222. Burial to follow at Bellevue Cemetery in Danville, KY.
