
Dick was born on March 7,1935 to Robert and Loretta Schlipf. He was raised in Louisville, Kentucky and graduated from Eastern High School in 1953. He graduated from Florida State University in 1957, with a degree in bakery engineering, followed by a very successful career in the baking industry, with managerial responsibility with the Kroger Company, National Tea Co. Bakeries, Heileman Baking Company, and Holsum bakery. He was Vice President & General Manager of Erickson Bakeries. He was former President of American Society of Bakery Engineers, and an avid fan of Florida State University and The University of Louisville.
Dick had a great love of the outdoors, spending summers at his A-frame cottage in Minocqua, Wisconsin, where he taught his children to fish, ride mopeds, water ski, play cards, and to appreciate nature. Dick and his son Robert enjoyed a Salmon fishing trip to Alaska in August with friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Cynthia Innis Schlipf in 2013.
He is survived by his children, who were his greatest joys, Susan McCluskey of Jupiter, Florida; Robert Schlipf (Ksenia) of Oakland, California, and Richard Schlipf (Jingjing) of San Francisco, California; his beloved grandchildren, Thomas McCluskey and Kaitlyn Schlipf; his sister, Barbara Parrish (Al), of Louisville, and their children; his cousins, and his life-long best friend, Alton Crafton (Madge).
Funeral Services will be at Arch L. Heady-Cralle, 2428 Frankfort Avenue, Thursday, November 5, 2015, at 10:00a.m. Burial will follow at Cave Hill Cemetery, where his parents are also buried.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Heart Association in his honor.
