Rebecca Sue Wortham

Becky Sue was born on March 8, 1954 in Central City, KY to Milton and Marilyn Wortham. She was the youngest of the family and at an early age, it was understood that she would face learning challenges for the rest of her life.

Neither Becky nor her mother were content with limitation and Becky engaged in a wide range of activities throughout her life. She was an active participant in Kentucky Special Olympics as an athlete in swimming, softball, and basketball among other sports. Also, she loved bowling and playing Uno.

In addition to sports, Becky had an artistic side. She was a member of the Olympic Star Square Dancers performing around Kentucky and across the USA. She was a ringer in a handbell choir of special friends. In her later years, her interest in word searches and coloring books progressed to paint on canvas. Her gallery is only known to her family and close friends.

Becky grew up attending church, participating in all she could and would often remind her family that, “I got Jesus in my heart, you remember when I got wet.” As an adult she served by rocking babies for families attending services.

Most recently, Becky has been less active, enjoying frequent cheeseburgers and bringing much joy to the other residents and workers where she lived. Her constant smile and frequent chuckles have brought much joy and happiness to whatever room she is in!

She is preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Marilyn Wortham and nephew Daniel Wortham.

Becky is survived by, her brother Robert Wortham (Tony), sister Roberta Wortham Mescher (Dale), her niece Lyn Wortham Blessinger (Chad), her nephew Scott Mescher (Corey), and niece Stacy Mescher Higgins (Bill). Becky was a blessing and model of joy to all her great nieces and nephews as well.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Friday, June 13, 2025 at Farmdale Baptist Church, Louisville, KY. A visitation will be from 1pm-2pm. Becky will be laid to rest at Fairmont Cemetery, Central City, KY.
