Bob was an Army Veteran of the Korean War who served in Europe. He was retired Butcher from Kroger’s with 42 years of service, and a graduate of duPont Manual High School. What Bob enjoyed most, was travelling with his wife Lucille.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Lillian Childers and a sister, Jo-Ann Osborne.
Bob leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 34 years, Lucille Childers, brother, Richard “Dick” Childers, stepsons, Herbert Phillips (Linda) and Richard Phillips (Margaret), step grandsons, Shawn and Craig Phillips. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral service to celebrate Bob’s life will be conducted at 12 noon, Monday, September 8, 2014 in the chapel of Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd with interment at Resthaven Memorial Park. Guests are invited to attend a visitation from 3-8pm Sunday, September 7, 2014 and after 9am the day of the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eastern Parkway Baptist Church.
