Roy A. Hampton Jr., 86, of Clifton Heights, entered into eternal rest at his home, February 13, 2014. Roy was Catholic. He attended St. Joseph School. He proudly served his country in the U S Navy, during WW II. He was stationed in the South Pacific on the U. S. S. Taussig. He was a retired foreman with Whittenberg Construction. He was a member of the Laborers' Local Union 576 for 65 years.
Roy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. An avid gardener and member for 14 years in the Crescent Hill Garden Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Eleanor Foss, son Kerry Shaw, sister Virginia Smith, and twin brother Clay.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Lois, children Vicki Barnett ( Steve), Albert (Beverly), Rose Madden, John Shaw (Debbie), Roy III. His brother Andrew, daughter-in-law, Judy Shaw. His 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
A service to celebrate Roy’s life will be held at 1 pm Monday in the chapel of Arch L. Heady-Cralle, 2428 Frankfort Ave., by the Rev. B. J. Breen. Interment will follow at Cave Hill. Visitation will be 2-8 pm Sunday.
