Russell was an Army veteran of the military and served under the Vietnam War.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin K. and Marie Stilitz Gibbs.
Russell is survived by his loving wife, Patty Shock Gibbs; children, Russell Lee Gibbs, Jr. (Milagros), Vickey L. Crum, Angela M. Basil (Aaron), and Paul S. Gibbs; siblings, Gail Roberts Gibbs, Denis W. Gibbs, Kenny E. Gibbs, Darlene Hernadez, and Carol Pate; step-mother, Anna Gibbs; 9 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
Funeral service will be 2pm on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Evergreen Funeral Home with interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
Visiation will be from 12:30-2pm on Tuesday.
