

She was the most big hearted, loving, giving person who would never ask for anything in return. She loved books and reading, loved to travel, cook and try different foods. She was musically talented and could play the piano, sang with the Joyous Singers at her church and played bells with her church group. Sharon was an ordained minister, enjoyed going to Luther Luckett Correctional Facility on Friday nights to work with the inmates. Sharon was a retired JCPS teacher and was also teacher of the year. What she truly cherished and loved most was her family.
Sharon is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years of marriage, William “Bill” Crosby, her parents, Rathburn Lee Kirtley and Mary Jo Evans, son-in-law, Robert “Bobby” Townsend, a brother, R.L. Kirtley and a brother-in-law, Joe Sanders.
She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Crosby Townsend and Karen Crosby Toohey (Terry), grandchildren, Terry W. Toohey Jr., and Crysta J. Devine (Matt), great grandchildren, Tucker and Ryder. She is also survived by her sisters, Teresa Sanders, and Lisa Martin (Mike). Sharon is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Guests are invited to attend a visitation from 12-8PM on Friday, September 13, 2024 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven. Funeral services will take place at 11:30Am on Saturday, September 14, 2024 in the Chapel of Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, Guests may attend visitation on Saturday after 11AM. Interment will follow immediately after the funeral at Cave Hill Cemetery.
