Steve was a veteran of the US Army and was retired from Cardinal Aluminum. He was an avid NASCAR fan, particularly fond of #48 Jimmie Johnson and faithfully followed the UK wildcats.
Steve will be greeted in heaven by many family members, including his mother, Patricia Barber; his wife Mary Joyce Barber, his brother Gary Barber; his nephew, Joshua Golightly and one of the last of his many feline "babies", Blackie.
Survivors include his sister, Dorothy (Randy) Golightly; nephews Gary (Reagan) Barber, Jr. and Dale (Amanda) Clifton; niece Heather (Brian) Rauser, 2 great nieces and 4 great nephews; many cousins; and Smokey, his last cat.
The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Arch L. Heady, 4400 Bardstown Road with visitation on Friday evening 6-8 p.m. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Gardens
