

Terrence Edward Peters was born April 11th, 1938 in Toledo, Ohio to parents Edward and Elnetta Peters. He spent his early life growing up in Toledo and playing on his grandmother's farm in Swanton Ohio with his sister, Sandy. He looked back fondly at time spent at his Jesuit high school where he graduated in 1956. He then moved to Cleveland, Ohio to attend John Carrol University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with his B.S. in Biology and Philosophy in 1960. Upon graduating, he moved to Saint Louis to attend Saint Louis University School of Medicine.
During his first week at medical school, he met his wife, Ann, during a mixer hosted for women attending Maryville University. They were married December 28th, 1963 in Washington, Missouri during his last semester of medical school and remained married to his last day. He graduated with his M.D. in 1964, and they began his General Surgery residency at Cleveland's Metropolitan General Hospital that same year. During his grueling residency, they found time to start their family, which grew to 5 loved children over the years.
He finished his surgical residency in 1969 and immediately began his service in the United States Navy from 1970 to 1971 during the Vietnam War. He served as a surgeon aboard the U.S.S.
Bonhomme Richard caring for the wounded during times of heavy combat. He was the recipient of the Naval Achievement Award for his organization of the ship's medical department. He was additionally the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea. His military tradition was continued with proud service in the family through grandson Colin, who served as combat veteran in the Airforce during deployments in Afghanistan and Korea.
Following his years of service, he returned to Cleveland, Ohio to complete his Vascular Surgery Fellowship in 1972 at the Cleveland Clinic. He and his growing family then moved to Monroe, Wisconsin to establish surgical practice at the Monroe Clinic, where he worked for over nearly two decades. Later in his career, he moved his surgical practice to North Carolina, where he worked until retirement.
He remained an active member of multiple Catholic parishes throughout his life in every community he lived. Most recently, he enjoyed membership at St. Bernadette's church in Louisville, KY. He assisted in many service roles throughout his life but was well known for his commitment to Habitat for Humanity, where he helped build communities throughout the country. He enjoyed working on personal carpentry projects for family and friends as well. He additionally had a love for golfing and particularly enjoyed his time living in Foxfire Village golf course community in North Carolina upon retirement. He loved raising golden retrievers throughout his life and fondly remembered Duchess, Lady, and Katie. His loyal dog Rosie remained by his side until passing. His most cherished pastime was experiences with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Ann, of 62 years, his children: Jennifer (Kurt), Jeffrey (Tessa, Melissa (Nigel), and Christopher, his grandchildren: Lauren, Colin, Mackenzie, Tyler, Tristan, Alex, Cooper, and Evan, and great grandchildren: Saylor, Jett, Jack, Elle, Carter. He joins beloved daughter, Elizabeth, sister, Sandy, and parents Edward and Elnetta to reside with our heavenly Father.
