Born to the late Arthur "Bud" and Irene Hawks, Tom is also preceded in death by wife Maralois Hawks. He is survived by his son, William Leslie Hawks; his brother Cletus Hawks (Lavada); his step-son Casey Howell; his step-grandchildren, Chloe and Chase; and his niece Tiffany Minton (Donnie).
Tom retired from G.E. after 32 years of hard work. In his spare time, Tom loved to work on cars and teach Casey everything he knew about mechanics. He was known as a strong, independent man who valued hard work. Tom had a wonderful sense of humor, one of his favorite things to say was always "I told you so!". His favorite music was outlaw country music, and he loved a good Waylon Jennings album.
A visitation will begin on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM, at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY, 40218. A funeral service in Tom's honor will begin at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the funeral home. Tom will be entombed in Resthaven Memorial Park.
