William (Bill, Dad, Pa, Grandpa) Daniel Combs, worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad for 31 years as a clerk where he was admired for his intelligence and commitment. After retirement, he embraced the simple joys he cherished most: tending to his bees, growing a beautiful garden, tinkering on projects, reading the paper, watching old westerns, sharing his recliner with grandkids, sitting under his paw-paw tree, and spending time with those he held dear.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents Jesse and Katherine Combs; siblings Von, Ken and Nancy. William is survived by his charming, smart, funny and beautiful wife of 63 years, Kizzie; his devoted siblings, Glen, Dot, Garlind,; his daughters, Diane and Donna; special son-in-law, Hoye; his grandchildren, Wes, Emily, Sam, and Daniel; and his great-grandchildren, Kayson and Nolan.
William will be remembered as a generous soul with a curious mind, sharp wit, and a kind heart. Whether he was helping a neighbor, sharing stories from his younger days, or teaching his grandchildren to appreciate the wonders of nature, he was always the steady, determined, reliable caretaker—of plants, of bees, of his people.
Though his presence will be deeply missed, his legacy of kindness and quiet care lives on in all the lives he touched.
A graveside service will be held at 3pm on Wednesday July 23, 20255 at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. 4400 Bardstown Rd. Louisville KY 40218.
