

He was born on December 29th, 1969, in Louisville, Kentucky. Ron was a very skilled pool player, an APA #7, and spent time honing his craft playing in pool leagues around the city. He loved golfing, camping, and enjoyed spending time outside. Ron travelled all over, as much as he could, and was a talented wood-whittler, crafting items for his loved ones here and there. He had a deep love for sports, keeping up with University of Kentucky Basketball, his favorite color was Kentucky Blue. He held season tickets to Cincinnati Bengals games and never missed a chance to talk about becoming buddies with, and playing video games with, former Bengals wide receiver, Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson. Ron was a fantasy football fanatic, keeping pages and pages of player and game stats for his fantasy league. He loved the Star Wars movies and shared a love of video games, specifically EverQuest, with his buddies, some of which he had been friends for over 30 years. He spent quality time with his partner Dottie’s children and they created a very special bond that will stand the test of time.
Ron was fun, outgoing, and he truly never met a stranger. His infectious enthusiasm and joyful outlook never ceased, even amid his diagnosis and treatments. His radiant personality was even appreciated by 4 legged friends, Ron was a huge dog lover and will be dearly missed by Wookie, his dog that was more like a child to him.
Above all, Ron will be remembered for his deep love for those lucky enough to be a part of his life. He had a gift with people. Ron’s large and loyal friend group is truly a testament to his character and how lovable, kind, and fun he really was. He cared so deeply about making sure his soulmate, Dottie, was being taken care of. Ron was selfless, caring, and a godsend to Dottie and her children. He was a fiercely loyal life partner, son, brother, and friend. Life was made better by Ron being there.
Ron was preceded in death by his grandparents, William R. and Bonnie Monroe, Mary Pebley, and his beloved dog, Murphy.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents, William Monroe, Sr. (Betty) and Sharron Pebley; the love of his life, Dottie Berry and her children Conner Berry and Jordan Riffle (Jackson); his golden retriever who was his closest companion, Wookie; his brother Troy Monroe (Candice) and their children Natalie and Nathan; his step sisters Carolyn, Bekki, and Kathi and their families; and a host of family and beloved friends who were more like family.

A celebration of life will be held for Ron by his family on July 26th, 2025 from 1:00pm-3:00pm at Wickland Baptist Church located at 510 Bloomfield Road, Bardstown, KY 40004.
