Born to Betty and Eldon Treaster, Barry lived his childhood on a farm south of Beloit, Kansas. He graduated from Beloit High School where he was a wrestler and football player. After high school, he attended Fort Hays State. He then farmed for several years meanwhile becoming an insurance agent and stock broker which moved him to Loveland, Colorado in 1986. He later formed his own company, Quantum Group, which he ran until leaving the industry in 1998. Barry had multiple career interests thereafter, in the motorcycle world, as a tour guide at the Mammoth Site in Hot Springs, SD; owning and operating a swimming pool maintenance business in Arizona; and finally as a car crew manager for Great Western Railroad until retiring when he became ill in 2016.
Barry loved hunting, skiing, golfing, and motorcycling in his younger days, as well as being a founding member of the Kiwi Congo Band with, Eldon, his father. In his final months, he enjoyed fishing till he could not any longer. His greatest joy was his children and grandchildren.
Barry is survived by wife Sara Treaster; Children - Jeremy Torrez and wife Tammy, Michael Treaster and wife Kadie, Melanie Glassman and husband Eric, Chelsey Lane and husband Matt; Grandchildren - Echo, Maddison, Zachery, Max, Shelby, Lauren, Cameron, Gaige, and Thatcher. Siblings - Beth Schmidt and husband Warren, Brenda Krone and husband John, Brad Treaster and wife Chris; and many sister & bother in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Celebration of Life for Family and Close Friends will held Saturday April 10 from 3:00-4:30 at the Feed and Grain 4138 Main St. Timnath, CO.
