Carole A. Bowen, 83, of Loveland, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2025. Born in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, on March 4, 1941, Carole made Loveland, Colorado, her home for many years after living in New Jersey, New York, and Vermont.
Carole married Clarence "Chuck" Bowen on June 3, 1961, and they shared a beautiful life full of love and cherished memories. Her warmth, compassion, and humor were always evident, but her unwavering dedication to her family truly defined her. Carole’s love for her grandchildren was boundless, and she often attended their hockey and figure skating competitions, where she was their most enthusiastic cheerleader, always encouraging them to “Believe!”
Carole’s legacy is one of kindness, strength, and enduring love. She was passionate about entertaining, and her door was always open to everyone, her home a place of warmth and laughter. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
At only 15 and 16 years old, Chuck caught Carole’s eye by showing off to her at a skating rink. Last year, they celebrated their 63rd anniversary. Their love story, full of shared adventures and memories, was a testament to their strong bond and devotion to each other.
Throughout her career, Carole worked primarily in libraries. She worked at Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, Vermont, until 1990 when she moved to Niwot, Colorado. Then, she took a position with NCAR in Boulder, Colorado, until her retirement in 1999. She formed lasting friendships throughout her career, as evidenced by her regular monthly gatherings with her NCAR friends.
Together, Carole and Clarence loved to travel, exploring National Parks across the country in their RV. Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons were two of their favorite destinations. They also enjoyed their trips with friends and relatives to Mexico, Hawaii, and Las Vegas. Carole had a zest for life, enjoying reality TV shows, computer games, and the occasional visit to a casino (or two).
She is predeceased by her mother, Anna Bartasavage, and her father, Walter Bartasavage.
Carole is survived by her loving husband, Clarence B. Bowen Jr.; her daughters, Jodi Foy (and her husband Jeff Foy) and Karen Bowen; her grandchildren, Julianna Foy and Jackson Foy; and many extended family members and friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
No funeral services will be held. A private family service will take place later. Instead of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
She will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
