Chris was born in Greeley, Colorado, the son of Robert H. and Beth V. Benson. He graduated from Greeley Central High School and then obtained an Associate's Degree from Aims Community College in Greeley. At the time of his passing, Chris was working at Lowe's in a sales position, working directly with building contractors in the area. He was also actively restoring his own home to what he called, "the original 1958 style".
Chris was a rambunctious child, in a fun way. As a kid, he loved to skateboard and he surely took more than his fair share of falls. As he grew older, he became passionate about, and very accomplished at, fly-fishing. This went well with his love for nature and the great outdoors. Chris was also passionate about music and he had his own special music room set up in his home. Whether it be his drums, keyboard, or guitar, Chris just loved to play and he used his music as a creative and expressive outlet. Chris was artist by nature and he would frequently surprise family or friends with something that he had handcrafted especially just for them. To his family and friends, Chris will be remembered not only as loving, but fun-loving. He was always warm, thoughtful, caring, gentle, selfless, and giving. Chris is a magnificent gem whose love and presence will be missed by us all dearly.
Chris is survived by his sister Cyndi Benson and Chris Conklin of Longmont, Colorado; his sister Marsha, and her husband Clifford Polacek, from Oxnard, California; and his brother Rob Benson, and his wife Linda, from Loveland, Colorado. Chris is also survived by his niece, Erin Moratto, and her family from Grand Junction, Colorado; and his two nephews, Sean and Skylar Benson, both from Loveland, Colorado.
