Elaine Claire Linthwaite

Elaine C. McDowell Linthwaite of Loveland, Colorado passed away at her home on April 4, 2019. Elaine was born July 22, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York to Harold F. and Gudrun McDowell. She was raised in Brooklyn and Long Island, New York as one of sixteen children. Elaine pursued multiple careers, first, her career as a nurse following her graduation from the School of Practical Nursing at the Community Hospital at Glen Glove, New York on September 20, 1960. She later opened her own custom dress boutique, La Chemise, in E. Northport, New York. Her hobbies included watercolor painting, puzzles, knitting, reading, and spending time with her loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also a member of the Sons of Norway – Riverhead, New York, and was passionate about researching and writing multiple books on her family ancestry. She is proceeded death by Richard McDowell, Lorraine Strickland, Shyrle Herbst, and Robert McDowell. She is survived by her eleven brothers and sisters: Maureen Ray of Brunswick, GA

Elaine is also survived by her immediate family which consists of Linda Crandall and her husband Fred and two daughters Michelle and Heather, Paul McHugh and his three sons Darren, Brian, and Dillon and his daughter Larissa, Barry McHugh and his two daughters Theresa and Tracy, and Martin (Skip) McHugh and his wife Mary and three sons Christopher, Daryl, and Kevin and daughter Karen, along with several great grandchildren.

Elaine lived a full and adventurous life, and will be deeply missed by all.

No formal services are scheduled at this time, but a private memorial service will be arranged at a later date.
