

Ilene was born on November 27, 1925, in Eaton, Colorado, to Henry and Bertha (Blehm) Heinze. She grew up in the Pierce area and graduated from Pierce High School. In 1946, she married Ben Stencel in Greeley, Colorado, and they celebrated 70 years of marriage together.
In addition to being a dedicated wife and mother, Ilene also enjoyed working at the Hallmark store in Greeley for 17 years. She was an avid reader, had a green thumb, and loved taking care of her roses and flowers. She also was an excellent cook (especially her famous chocolate chip cookies). She was a loyal servant to God, was a member of several Lutheran churches throughout her life and is a current member of First Christian Church in Loveland.
Ilene is survived by her son, Glenn (Gail) Stencel; her son, Gaylord Stencel; her daughter, Judy Stencel; four grandsons, Aron, Heath, Wade, and Tye; four great-granddaughters, Audrey, Erica, Blake, and Journee; and one great-grandson, Jace. She is also survived by sisters, Betty Hoffner and Collet (Al) Rudd; brother, Larry Heinze, and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ben; son, Gary; sister, Leola and her husband, Ken Duncan; brother-in-law, Robert Hoffner; sister-in-law, Carol Heinze and niece, Denise McLaughlin.
