At the age of 18, Jerry enlisted into the United States Marine Corp and served seven years in the reserves. He began his working years as a grocery clerk after deciding not to become a butcher, and he lived and worked as a union man.
On April 19, 1960, Jerry married Frances Lynette Chapman in Reno, Nevada. Together they built a life centered on family. He was a dedicated father to their two children and a very loving husband.
Jerry found deep enjoyment in the outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing, and he raised his children with that same appreciation—sharing camping trips, time outside, and outings to run the dogs. Those moments, simple and true, became lasting memories and a meaningful part of what he passed on.
Jerry is survived by his daughter Kathleen Elaine McDaniel, his son Jerry N. Chapman Jr., his brother Gerald Chapman of Modesto, grandchildren Brandon Rojas, and Candice Rodriguez, great grandchildren Sawyer Rodriguez and Maverick Rodriguez.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Edith Chapman, his wife Frances L. Chapman and his brother James Chapman.
