Michael “Mike” was born December 21, 1943 to Mildred and Earl Burch and grew up in Boulder, Colorado.
Mike had two sons from his first marriage and raised them in Boulder before moving to Fort Morgan, Colorado to work on the building of the Brush power plant. He met Christina “Chris” Harvey and they married in 1980, in Las Vegas. With his marriage to Chris he helped raise her two children. They lived in Fort Morgan and eventually moved to Loveland, retiring there.
Mike was a dedicated IBEW Local 68 Electrical Union member for 37 years working on many great projects including the building of the Eisenhower Tunnel. Mike assumed the role of Business Agent for the local 68 in 1998. In 1994 Mike’s father Earl pinned Mike in a ceremony to commemorate his 25 years of membership. In 2002 Mike pinned his father Earl to commemorate Earl’s 35+ years as a Local 68 member. They were both proud members of the Local 68.
Mike had a passion for classic cars, attending as many car shows as he could, meeting new friends and discussing the cars they appreciated. He had two classics of his own he proudly drove and enjoyed entering them into car shows. Because of his love of cars, he enjoyed collecting die cast models, as well as rare Hot Wheels. He had an interest in arrowheads and was a member of the Northern Colorado Chapter of Colorado Archaeological Society.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Chris, parents Mildred and Earl, and sister Valerie. He survived by his brother Kim, sons Lane and Aaron, stepchildren Bob Henry and Brandi Widener, and 11 grandchildren.
