Patrick Leo Marsland Gerhard, aged 34, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, in Fort Collins, Colorado. Leo was born on May 7, 1991, in Lincoln, Nebraska to John and Amy Gerhard. Leo grew up in Loveland, Colorado alongside his three siblings, Anna, Anthony and Elana. He attended Monroe Elementary School, Lucile Erwin Middle School, Loveland High School and Colorado State University.
Leo had a gentle nature and befriended people from every walk of life with an open heart. His smile was infectious, and his kindness touched everyone he met. Leo was fearless and approached life with tenacious determination. He was athletically gifted and excelled at every sport that he tried. He began rollerblading at just 2 years old and started riding a motorcycle at the age of 5. He played baseball, basketball, lacrosse, football, wrestling and track (shot and discuss). He also enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish. His favorite job was being a white-water raft guide on the Poudre River.
Leo was incredibly smart, and quick-witted. Academics came easy for him as he had a photographic memory. Throughout his life, he often helped others by tutoring them without hesitation or judgement. He loved to make people laugh and was especially goofy when entertaining his younger siblings. He loved good music and could quote movies endlessly.
He was most proud of his daughter, Brooklyn, a bright reminder of hope, love, and his tender heart. She was a source of constant joy, and they shared a love of books and storytelling. He shared his faith in God with her and together they attended Foundations church.
He is survived by his daughter Brooklyn, parents John and Amy Gerhard, his siblings, Anna Colquitt husband Darren and their two children, Anthony Gerhard and wife Samantha, and Elana Gerhard.
Additionally, Leo is survived by his grandparents Betty Gerhard, Bill and Lenore Marsland and many extended family members and close friends.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather and namesake, Alexis Leo Gerhard, his aunt Devin Vaughn, and his great grandparents.
A private family memorial is being held, and a celebration of Leo’s life will be scheduled for a later date.
In his memory, we ask that donations be made to his daughter’s college fund. Those that wish to contribute may do so here: https://gofund.me/42838c85b
Leo will be remembered for his humor and the way he made people feel accepted — a reminder that kindness leaves the longest legacy.
