Richard Grover Hayes

Richard Grover Hayes passed away August 3, 2023 in Loveland, Colorado with his daughters, Donna and Nancy, by his side. He was born December 31, 1937 in Dallas Texas to EO (Doc) Hayes and Kathleen Lockhart Hayes . Richard grew up in the Bluffview neighborhood of Dallas. He spent most of his summers in Colorado. Richard graduated college from SMU and joined the Navy. He then married Judith Jukes from that union. They had three children (Donna, Nancy, and Darrell).

Richard had a great love for his animals: his horses, his pigeons, his cats, and his dogs were all a big part of his life. He also enjoyed the game of golf.

Richard married Valerie Booker in 1979. She resides in Kennewick, Washington.

Richard is survived by his three children: Donna Hayes of Loveland CO, Nancy Penley (Kurt) of Loveland, CO, and Darrell Hayes (Heidi) of Vancouver, Washington; his nieces and nephews: Martin (Rhenda) Hayes of Oklahoma, Dean (Cindy) Hayes of Texas, Clint (Sunny) Hayes of Texas, and Molly Hayes of Texas; four grandchildren: Katie M Mart (Landon) of Loveland, Colorado, Tyler W Penley (Kate) of Loveland, Colorado, Caitlyn Hayes, of Vancouver, Washington, and Nicole Hayes, of Vancouver, Washington; and four great-grandchildren: Dawson of Vancouver, Washington, Ryan Mart of Loveland, Colorado, and Andrew and Annabel Penley of Loveland, Colorado.

He is preceded in death by his parents, EO. (Doc) Hayes and Kathleen Lockhart Hayes, and his brother John Emmett Hayes of Ivanhoe, TX where his wife Linda resides to this day.

His wishes were to be buried at Sea from an aircraft carrier.
