Richard grew up in Hawaii and some years later he moved to California. On February 20, 1971, Richard married Janet Srack in Riverside, California. Together they built a family and shared the joy of raising three children: two daughters, Diana and Kimberly, and a son, Jonathon. He later moved to Berthoud, Colorado and had a career as an Aircraft Engineer.
Richard found happiness in the simple, meaningful things—especially photography and fishing.
Richard is survived by his wife, Janet Kano; daughters, Diana Kano and Kimberly Kano; son, Jonathon Kano; sisters, Irene Muraoka and Patsey Kano and his grandchildren, Kysten Stevens, Danessa Stevens and Brielle Finley.
