Ron was born in Denver, Colorado on November 26, 1946 to Clyde Langton and Ann (Finnigsmier) Langton. Ron attended schools in Arvada, CO and graduated from Arvada High School in 1965. He attended University of Northern Colorado (called Colorado State College at the time) where he graduated with a degree in Elementary Education in 1969. He was a member of the Acacia Fraternity during his time there.
He was drafted into the Air Force in 1969 and went to basic training in San Antonio, TX. He served in the Vietnam War for one year, where he taught English to Vietnamese soldiers. When he came back, he lived in Cheyenne and was an editor for the Air Force base newspaper. When his time was up, he honorably left the service with the rank of Sargent.
Ron married Lois Kirby in 1972 in Greeley CO. They would have two children Matthew (1975) and Alison (1977). He taught in Jefferson County and, while doing that, he received his Masters Degree in School Administration in 1976. They moved to Akron, CO in the early 80’s where he was an Elementary and Jr. High Principal. They later relocated to Laramie, WY in 1985, where he would continue with elementary education. During the years he lived there, he would be principal of Washington Elementary and Whiting Elementary, Beitel Elementary and Harmony School.
He moved back to Colorado to continue work in education in Evergreen and La Salle Jr. High. He married Lynn Westbrook in 2000 and moved to Fort Collins, CO, where he would remain until his death.
When Ron retired from education, he became a realtor for a number of years before completely retiring. As of recently, Ron enjoyed doing puzzles, being with family and grandchildren, listening, watching and discussing sports, and attending dinner theatre and concerts. The Denver Broncos were his favorite team and could be found watching them every Sunday during the season.
If anyone knew Ron, he was a hard worker. His various jobs, when he wasn't doing education, included working at a freight dock during college (he loved telling us stories of his time there), post office, grocery bagger, owning a candy shop, and painting houses.
We will miss his kind and gentle nature. He faced so many health challenges but remained positive through it all. We are in awe of his strength and courage at the end of his life. We will miss him so much.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, son Matthew, and brother Glenn Langton.
Survivors include his wife, Lynn Langton, daughter Alison (John) Artaechevarria, Kristin Westbrook, and Ian (Jenna) Westbrook. Grandchildren, Brody and Landon Artaechevarria, Libby Benn, and Niko and Gray Westbrook. Brother in law, Paul (Sue) Tuba, and sister in law Sylvia Lane, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Services will be held at Allnutt Funeral Home, 2100 N Lincoln Ave, Loveland, CO 80538, on June 16, 2025 at 10:00 am.
