Sheryl passed away Saturday, January 18, 2020. Born in Moline, Illinois, she was a daughter of the late James Battern and Betty Hood Battern. Sheryl graduated in 1964 from Riverdale High School, Port Byron, IL, and then attended The University of Illinois. She was a dedicated worker and was promoted throughout her career.
Sheryl enjoyed an active lifestyle that included gardening, tennis, hiking, and billiards. She was involved in ancestry and was considered to be the “family historian.” Sheryl had a kind heart and volunteered to help the homeless at Loveland Community Kitchen as well as baking cookies and brownies for her friends. She loved her dogs and often took them to the dog park or on long walks with her husband.
Sheryl dearly loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them whenever she could. Her hearty laugh was easily recognized and contagious.
Surviving are her spouse of 31 years, Ed Williams; sons, Todd Sovey (Sharon) of Gardner, IL, James Bradley (Michelle) of Kapolei, HI, Ryan Bradley (Jill) of Clinton, IA; daughter, Shannon Farrow of Williston, ND; grandchildren, James and Meta Bradley, Sabra Gilbert, Stellen Nice, Stormie Luna, Mallory, Norah and Caleb Bradley; great-granddaughter, Gemma Gilbert; and siblings, Steve Battern of Hillsdale, IL and Jimalee Driscoll of Cordova, IL
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son-in-law, Dennis Farrow.
