Born in Roanoke, Virginia, Tammy’s fondest memories were of growing up on a horse farm where she became a skilled rider. Her love of old trains and railroads was inspired by her grandfather’s career on the Norfolk & Western. He also sparked her interest in motorcycles by teaching her to ride and maintain his “Indian Four”.
Tammy worked in the Maryland area as a mechanical engineer for a number of tool manufacturers, aviation and aerospace firms. She was a seasoned sailor who, along with her spouse Helen, spent many years as ‘liveaboards’ on sailboats in the Annapolis area.
Tammy’s greatest passion was for motorcycles and traveling. She owned a number of bikes of all types and toured 49 states and all of Canada. Upon moving to Colorado in her later years she took an interest in Jeeps as well and enjoyed exploring trails in her beloved ‘TJ’.
Tammy’s beloved spouse, Helen Melbourne, preceded her in death in 2022. She is survived by her friend and partner, Greg Myles.
A celebration of Tammy’s life will be announced at a future date.
