Alda Raye Wynn McDougal, 98, passed away Sunday February 24, 2013 in Lubbock.Alda Raye was born October 22, 1914 in Estelline, Texas to Clyde and Mabel Wynn.She was married to Chester McDougal for 57 years.She moved to Hockley county in 1929 and Lubbock county in 1986.She was the Postmaster in Smyer for 25 years from October 1954 to February 1980.Alda Raye was a member of Smyer First Baptist Church were she served as a Sunday School teacher for 57 years and church clerk for 40 years.Alda Raye was currently a member of First Baptist in Lubbock.
Alda Raye is survived by 2 sons, Harvey and wife LaVelle of Joshua,Texas and Delbert and wife Carolyn of Lubbock; sister Lena Faye Miller of Odessa; 4 grandchildren , 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great- grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 4 sisters, and 3 brothers.Funeral Services will be today February 26 at 3:00 pm in Resthaven's Abbey Chapel with visitation just prior to the services.Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
