

Alvin Grant went to be with his heavenly father on Monday September 30, 2013 at 10:15 pm. He was in his home surrounded by his loving family and the wonderful nurses of Hospice of Lubbock by his side.
Alvin was born on December 14, 1930 to Bernice and Lindel Grant in Lottery, Jamaica West Indies and was the second child in a family of nine siblings. Alvin pursued an education in nursing and upon completion began working for Covenant Medical Center where he remained as a registered nurse for 37 years. He was a devout Christian and attended Trinity Church where he actively served on the usher board.
Alvin was all about family. He also had a love for young people and their pursuit of an education. He would do anything within his abilities to help someone further their life in a positive manner.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Tyrel.
Survivors include his wife Dazrene (Dee) of 48 years, their children Grace Grant-Jennings M.D. and husband Rudy of Austin, Andrea Dean and husband Tyrone of New York, Mark Flowers and wife Lashaunda of Hearne, Beverly Grant of Montego Bay, Jamaica, April Grant Pharm.D. of San Antonio, Chad Grant and wife Sharon of Lubbock their grandchildren Kiefer, Justice, Kyler, Camden & Jennifer, his sisters Jeanette of Canada, Joan of Georgia, Pauline of Ft. Lauderdale, his brothers Wilba of Canada, Wesley of Canada, Tubal of Jamaica, Hetford of Detroit, and a host of friends.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 82 years on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Trinity Church located at 70th & Canton. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Monday, October 7, 2013 from 7 until 9:00 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home.
