She was born on November 3,1940 in Levelland Texas to Vera Mae Knowles Thomason and Hershell Loren Thomason. She was the fourth and spirited child in the Thomason household. She attended Pettit Elementary school until the family moved to Acuff where Hershell purchased another farm. She and her older sisters attended and graduated from Roosevelt High School. After graduation, Anna briefly attended Texas Tech University. She landed a job as a local bank teller and found she enjoyed the business banking environment. Following friends, she moved to Houston and found a job at another bank with Lubbock connections.
Anna was hard working and opportunities helped her succeed in the competitive realm of banking Loan Officers, eventually becoming Vice President for the Exxon Mobile Credit Union in downtown Houston. She shared stories of outperforming other bank executives for new accounts acquired. She rarely met a stranger and thrived on social interactions even after her retirement.
She loved to travel with friends and family. She loved the lake, especially the Highland lakes in the Hill country. Lake LBJ where her parents had a cabin, was her favorite. Family and friends would often join her for a weekend of lake activities and Papa’s fish fry events.
Anna moved back to Levelland for a brief stint helping her sister care for their mother. Later settling at Carrillon for full retirement. She rarely missed a Carrillon excursion or trip to sporting events, museums, theatres and natural parks. Many close friendships and memories were made in the library or beside the Fireplace at Point Plaza.
Anna was predeceased by her parents; two of her siblings, Joy Mimms and Elvoy Thomason, In-laws; Peggy Thomason, Don Mimms and Charles Fikes and a nephew, Jeff Fikes.
She is survived by her sister, Juanima Fikes of Lawrencevile, Georgia. Nieces and nephew and their spouses; Brenda & Roger Jones, Sondra & Lynn Tate, Dwight & Pam Thomason, Jenny & Joe Donald and Renee’ & Joe Mack. Many grand nieces and nephews and their children. Many Cousins and their families. Also, her many friends and staff from Carrillon, who loved each other like family.
A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 1:00 pm Resthaven Funeral Home, 5740 West 19th Street, Lubbock, TX. Visitation prior to service at Noon.
