July 24, 1940 – May 4, 2026
Reverend Archie Lee Hall was born on July 24, 1940, in the Vistula Community, near Lovelady and Crockett, Texas, to parents, Robert Monday and Cambra Hall. Archie once described this area and his upbringing as “a rural farming community in southeast Texas, where I learned the value of hard work at an early age while working on my Dad’s farm before and after school, and on Saturday’s. Sunday’s were reserved for church and rest. I had a strong Christian and civic upbringing…. My leadership/work ethic has been highly influenced by my upbringing.”
Archie attended and was involved with several churches over the years. However, his spiritual formation started with being baptized at Union Grove Baptist Church in Vistula, Texas. His adult years included affiliation with New Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Crockett, Texas, and Christ the King Catholic Church in Lubbock, Texas.
Archie graduated in the top 10 of his class from Center Grove High School in Lovelady, Texas, in 1958. He later attended Prairie View A&M University from 1958 to 1961, when he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force before graduating. While in the Air Force, Archie continued his education, earning degrees from Wayland Baptist University – Associate of Applied Science in Maintenance Production Management (1981), Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education (1982), Master of Education in General Studies (1984), and Master of Arts in Christian Ministries (1985).
Archie served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years and 7 days, from 1961-1985, before retiring. A few of his assignments included: Aircraft Mechanic, Planning and Scheduling Specialist, and Noncommissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) of Plans and Scheduling and Documentation. Additionally, he was an aircraft crew chief and Wing Commander’s crew chief on several different types of fighter/bomber aircraft, such as the F-102, F-105, and F-111 aircraft. He retired as a Master Sergeant (E7), in May 1985, from Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, Texas. Archie’s duty locations included Lackland Air Force Base (San Antonio, Texas), Laredo Air Force Base (Texas), Misawa Air Base (Japan), Kadena Air Base (Okinawa, Japan), Clark Air Base (Angeles City, Philippines), and Cannon Air Force Base (Clovis, New Mexico). Archie served the Vietnam effort from Okinawa while serving as a mechanic on the F-105 Thunderchief aircraft that carried out most of the long-range bombing over North Vietnam, and from temporary bases in Thailand and Korea. During his military career, Archie earned several medals, including military good conduct and longevity.
From 1985 to 2012, Archie was employed by Texas Tech University as the Assistant Director and Manager of Custodial Services, Physical Plant, respectively; he supervised over 130 employees who serviced over 4 million square feet of floor space. During employment, Archie earned the Top Techsan Award from Texas Tech University and was a member of the Custodial Management Association of Texas (CMAT), including serving as the organization’s president.
It was in the Philippines that Archie met the love of his life, Clarita (Claire) Reconsal Alcausin. They were married by judge ceremony, on March 12, 1969, then on March 16, 1969, by traditional ceremony. Witnessed by surrounding family and friends, Archie and Claire were married in Angeles City, Philippines. Archie committed early on to Claire’s parents that, if he were to take her from her family and country, he would ensure she would be provided for and well-taken care of for as long as he lived, which he did. Archie and Claire have two children – Art Alcausin Hall and R-T Alcausin Hall. Archie and Claire had an enjoyable life filled with road trips with their children for many years. After both retired, they enjoyed road trips with King’s Highway Charters and Tours; their trips included visits to all 50 states and neighboring countries.
A proud occurrence in Archie’s life included being recommended by his older sister Pearlie B. (Pearl) Hall for work at Camp Waldemar in Hunt, Texas, as a food service assistant. That ultimately turned into a long-lived history for several family members. Archie and sisters Pearl and Mattie Inez Traylor, along with nephews Rickey and Randle Howard, often shared fond memories of working various summers together in the kitchen at Waldemar. Archie was especially proud to witness a true full-circle moment as part of his Camp Waldemar experience – celebrating his granddaughter, Londyn’s, participation as a camper for eight summers, 2012–2019, while also cherishing his niece, Kim Enez Traylor’s, service there as a camp counselor for five summers.
Archie and Claire were also proud of their children. Art graduated from Harvard (BA), Texas Tech University (JD/MBA), and the University of Wales at Aberystwyth (United Kingdom) (LLM) and is a student at Hampton University (expected PhD). R-T graduated from West Point (BA) and served in the U.S. Army. Art and wife, Stephanie McClain Hall, have one child, Londyn Elyse Hall, a senior at Spelman College (expected BA), and R-T and Melinda Delgado Muyet/Hall have one child, Isabella Jayden Smith/Hall, a graduate of Northwest Vista College (AS) and a student at the University of Texas at San Antonio (expected BA).
Archie enjoyed volunteering, particularly with the Fil-Am Association of the South Plains, where he served as a board member; the City of Lubbock Human Relations Commission, for over 10 years, including a term as Vice Chair; the Lubbock Meals on Wheels since 2004; and numerous other civic and religious organizations throughout his life.
Archie was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Monday and Cambra Hall, and siblings, Robert Turner (R-T or T-Boy) Hall (Narvella), Mary Lois Howard (Leroy, deceased), and Pearlie B. Hall. He is survived by wife, Clarita (Claire) Alcausin Hall, sons Art (Stephanie) and R-T (Melinda) Alcausin Hall, and sister, Mattie Inez Traylor (Charles), and a lovingly close family of relatives.
