Bennie Bob Hobgood

Bennie Bob Hobgood, 86, passed away Monday March 3, 2014 in Lubbock. He was born January 22, 1928 to Robert and Velma Hobgood in Lubbock Co. He married Elizabeth Davis in March 1945. Bennie Bob was a former member of the Frenship School Board, the Lion Boss of the Wolfforth Lions Club, Lubbock County Farm Bureau President, and a member of the Senior Mens’ Golf Association at Lakeridge Country Club. His passion for the Texas Rangers and Texas Tech Red Raiders was well known by all who knew him. He was an avid domino player at the Senior Citizen Hall in Ropesville, and until his death he had been a member of Wolfforth 1st Baptist Church longer than any current member. Bennie Bob is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Wolfforth; daughters, D’Nan Mathis and husband Mike and Debbie Thompson, both of Lubbock; 6 grandchildren, Brad and Cody Hobgood of Fort Worth, Chad Mathis of Albuquerque, NM, Coby Thompson of Ropesville, Trista Hamsmith of Lubbock and Kami Thompson of Lubbock; 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Bobby Dan, and a brother Chesley.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm in Resthaven Funeral Home. A memorial service will be Thursday, March 6 at 11:00 am in 1st Baptist Church Wolfforth. Private burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
