She will be greatly missed by her sons; David Teague and wife, Kathy, and Jerry Teague and wife, Cinthia, and her grandchildren Travis Teague and wife, Verin; Julie Teague, and Joshua Teague, and wife, Alex.
Betty was born in Eastland County, Texas on June 1, 1927 to Austin and Vestula (Pearcy) Pritchard, who along with her brothers, Truett, Gene and Jack, were an exceptional family that worked together to give Betty the best education and life possible during the depression and the West Texas dust bowl.
She met James Teague in an accounting class at Texas Tech and married him in 1949. They were married until his passing in 1989. James and Betty opened an accounting firm in the 1950’s that evolved into James Teague & Co, CPAs, passed to their son, David until his retirement, and continues to do business in Lubbock. Betty raised her sons during the 50’s and 60’s before becoming a second grade teacher at Wester Elementary.
She was passionate about her grandchildren, and took an active interest in their lives. She passed on her passion for books and travel, and the gift lifelong learning. Betty had an extraordinary positive outlook on life, often reminding her family to live in the moment, not to borrow trouble, and instead of feeling sorry for yourself, just “Bake a lemon pie and take it to somebody who really has problems.”
